In 2011, three friends who had spent years working in conventional tourism decided to break away from the standard coach tour model. We had watched too many visitors rush through Yorkshire's landmarks without truly experiencing them, checking boxes instead of making memories.
The idea was straightforward: what if we designed tours the way we would want to travel ourselves? Small groups, deeper engagement, connections with people who actually live in these places rather than just tour them.
We began with a single walking tour through the Brontë Country. That first season, we guided eight groups. The feedback was unanimous: this felt different. People weren't just seeing sights; they were understanding contexts, hearing stories passed down through generations, and experiencing landscapes with all their complexity intact.
Fifteen years later, we've expanded our offerings but never our group sizes. We still cap tours at eight participants because that's the threshold where a guide can adjust to individual interests, answer the curious question that leads somewhere unexpected, and maintain the conversational intimacy that makes travel meaningful.
We would rather spend three hours properly exploring one location than rushing through five. Understanding develops slowly, and we refuse to sacrifice comprehension for coverage. Every tour is designed with enough time for observations to deepen, questions to emerge, and connections to form.

We present landscapes and histories accurately, including the complicated parts. Yorkshire's beauty is real, but so is its history of labor struggles, environmental challenges, and social change. We believe travelers deserve the complete picture, not a sanitized version designed to avoid discomfort.
